| I was born in Palmer, Alaska in 1976,and have
remained here eccept for a five year tour in the United States Marine Corps. I
have always been fascinated by the rugged beauty that surrounds me here in
Alaska. To me, the cow moose, alone or with calf, is equally as impressive and
inspiring as a trophy sized Bull. Unfortunately, all to often they are
overlooked. I have been studying such subjects and you will see my interest
reflected in my work. Alaska has an infinate array of backgrounds that change
each hour of the day and with each season. My favorite is that of winter blues
and whites which is why Fred Machetanz has been such an inspiration to me.

It
is only in the last year or so that I have found what I would call "My Style".
I have experimented with several different mediums on all types of media. I
started out painting with house paint on ply-wood and actually achieved some
very nice results. I have finally settled on Acrylics painted on stretched
canvas. My style is a slight departure from that of traditional landscape
artists and wildlife portrait artists. Deep vibrant colors and dominant
composition are given equal value to realism and light values. |
My Sketches are very realistic. In fact,
they are a distinct point of pride for me. Once again, I tend to look for
serene and simple beauty in my subject matter. Some of my bear sketches defy
that classification though. I sketch from nature, or from photographs that I
have taken. Very few of the animals in my sketches are figments of my
imagination. Most are actual wildlife living and roaming free in Alaska right
now. Take a look and see. |
